Naples Dentures Dentist

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and adjacent tissues made of acrylic resin, sometimes in combination with various metals.

Correctly placing dentures takes skill and experience. Our Naples dentist is experienced in the placement of dentures and skilled in ensuring that they fit and function properly. If you have lost your teeth or are in danger of losing them, our professional dental staff can help you examine your choices and choose the best type of dentures for your mouth and your lifestyle.

Finding the Right Dentures

Many people who wear dentures or partial dentures have difficulties with slipping, eating, or sores. These problems all stem from the apparatus being poorly constructed or ill-fitting.

At The Modern Dentist, we provide high quality dentures that will fit correctly, stay in place when you eat, and remain comfortable and pain-free.

Our dentures are custom-made using quality materials that are durable and look natural. Dr. Rashid will ensure they are the right shape, color, and size for a natural look. She will also ensure that the bite is correct so you can talk and eat properly. Aligning the dentures correctly will also give you a more attractive look and prevent premature wrinkles around the lips or at the corners of the mouth.

Our Naples dentist can help you with several types of dentures:

  • Complete: These replace all of your teeth. You can have them on your upper jaw, lower jaw, or both.
  • Partial: These fill in spaces created by missing teeth and prevent your remaining natural teeth from changing position. Partial dentures improve chewing ability, provide support for facial muscles, and greatly enhance the facial appearance and smile.
  • Immediate: These are inserted immediately after the removal of your remaining teeth. To make this possible, our dentist takes measurements and makes models of your jaws during a preliminary visit.
  • Overdenture: This is a removable denture that fits over a small number of remaining teeth or implants. The natural teeth must be prepared to provide stability and support for the denture.

Denture Procedure

The denture process takes about one month and five appointments.

Once the initial diagnosis is made, we will create an impression and a wax bite to determine vertical dimensions and proper jaw position. Then, a “try-in” is placed to assure proper color, shape, and fit. Finally, the patient’s completed denture is placed, following any minor adjustments.

Maintaining Your Dentures

Over time, adjusting the denture may be necessary. As you age, your mouth naturally changes, which can affect the fit of the denture. Your bone and gum ridges can recede or shrink, resulting in a loose-fitting denture.

Loose dentures can cause various problems, including sores and infections. Dentures that do not fit properly can be adjusted by our dentist.

Avoid using do-it-yourself kits to adjust your dentures. These kits can damage the appliance beyond repair. Glues sold over-the-counter often contain harmful chemicals and should not be used on dentures.
